Redwood Regional Park, CA
Dark grey stormclouds hung low and heavy in the sky. Yet we drove out, perhaps defiantly, into the weather. By the time we had located the correct trailhead (no small feat), rain was already sprinkling down. It rolled in languid beads off my green gore-tex jacket. I had wrapped my camera in a plastic bag, the kind you get to carry your groceries in. This is surprisingly excellent waterproofing. Armored against the rain, we stepped in to the beckoning forest. The rain paused briefly, enough for the sun to light the forest electric, before we were once again shrouded in fog.
